Get the VAT refunded
Aarhus Airport is responsible for customs declaration of goods. Customs stamping at the airport can take place no earlier than four hours before departure, and no later than one hour before departure.
Refunds of Danish VAT can only be made to persons residing outside the EU who travel to a non-EU country. The amount can only be paid in Denmark if Denmark is the last EU destination before the final destination.
- Aarhus Airport is helpful in stamping Danish receipts for SKAT (the Danish Tax Authority)
- Aarhus Airport cannot payout the VAT, but by presenting the stamped receipts, you can retrieve the refund of VAT at Global Blue in Copenhagen Airport
- If the passengers have bought goods as hand luggage and are able to present the goods in Copenhagen Airport, they will get the VAT paid immediately

- The item must have been purchased in Denmark and for min. DKK 300 in the individual business
For purchases in shops outside the airport
Between 12% and 19% of the total price of the item is refunded depending on the amount. It must be purchased for a minimum of DKK 300 in the individual store (for Norwegians a minimum of DKK 1,200 per item).
The business issues a check on request if you are resident outside the EU. The check is stamped by SKAT before arrival at the airport.
