New route: Varna
Aarhus Airport expands the route network again, and this time with direct flights to Varna in Bulgaria. The Varna flights starts on June 16, 2020 - ready for next year's summer holiday season!
The departure board at Aarhus Airport will be brimming with crisp summer news. Earlier this year, the Aarhus Charter announced that from summer 2020 they will supplement their summer catalog with yet another new route flying directly to Rhodes in Greece fra Aarhus. The airline DAT has also announced a new summer flight from Aarhus to the rocky island of Bornholm. The main carrier SAS has equally , in partnership woth Aarhus Airport, announced that in the summer of 2020, they will offer direct flights to Alicante in Spain and Chania in Greece.
“Our goal is to ensure a route development in line with passenger demand, and East Jutland has really welcomed the growth in Aarhus Airport's holiday destinations. This means that we able to focus even more on fast growth with both new routes and extra capacity for existing popular destinations. This new Balkan Holidays route to the Bulgarian summer destinations, is an example of our fast growing holiday market, ”says Peer H. Kristensen.
In recent years, the route development at Aarhus Airport has gone from a strict focus on business travelers to also embracing the holiday market. In 2017, SAS added Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Split and Nice to the airport's route network, thus paving the way for increasing passenger numbers and new destinations and partners. Earlier this year, Aarhus Airport, together with SAS, announced that the airline will nearly triple the number of seats to the popular routes Malaga and Palma de Mallorca for next year's summer program.
The new sunshine routes and additional aircraft seats support the airport's ambition to triple the number of passengers to 1.5 million over the next four years. Passenger growth at Aarhus Airport has been significant since 2016, and with the extensive redevelopment of the 750 square meter lounge area decorated with Danish design, the airport is ready to send happy holiday travelers south in spring and summer 2020.
Flights to Varna will fly during the peak season from June 16 to August 18, 2020 with a weekly departure.
