The pearl of the Baltic Sea is an extraordinary island paradise. Bornholm is so much more than Hammershus, round churches and smokehouses. There are so many amazing sights to see on Bornholm, but we have found some hidden gems and experiences that you should not miss.
Most people have heard of Opalsøen (Opal Lake), but do you know the other three – Gamle Dam, Krystalsøen & Hammersøen? (Old Dam, Crystal Lake, Hammer Lake)? Opalsøen got its name because of its beautiful green colour. Next to Opalsøen lies Hammersøen in a rift valley. Hammersøen is said to be Denmark’s only mountain lake with a location 8 meters above sea level. Krystalsøen lives up to its name, as it is beautiful and quiet with the surrounding trees reflected in the water. Gamle Dam is located between the path to Opalsøen and Krystalsøen.

Bornholm has developed into a true mecca for MTB enthusiasts. The island is known for its unique terrain and the challenges you’ll face as an MTB rider, where rocks and roots add an extra dimension to the riding experience. The established and marked trails make extensive use of Bornholm’s natural features, but you will also find that many of the unmarked trails have a special Bornholm signature. Several local companies and mountain bikers are working on making Bornholm one of the best MTB destinations in the Nordic region.;
