Handicap Access

On 26 July 2008,Aarhus Airport introduced a new service scheme for travellers with a disability or reduced mobility. This was the result of new regulatory requirements implemented following a decision that all EU citizens are to have equal access to travel.

In future, all passengers with reduced mobility (PRMs) can get assistance all the way through the airport from their point of arrival, until they are seated on board the aircraft or vice-versa.

If you need assistance in the airport or on board your flight, you must notify the airline already when you book your ticket, for instance, if you

  • need assistance to get to and from the aircraft
  • need assistance for boarding
  • use a wheelchair and it is electric or collapsible
  • need to bring an oxygen cylinder on board
  • bring a guide dog
  • have impaired eyesight or a hearing impairment
  • suffer from any kind of food allergy

In order to give you quick service, we recommend that you pre-book disability service under the scheme, preferably seven days in advance and not less than 48 hours before your departure time.

When you arrive at the airport, you should - unless agreed otherwise, go to the airports information desk.

The locations of the call points are:
- at the airport information desk
- at the airport bus stop
- at the airport car park where there are disabled parking facilities

In case you need assistance from the car park or the airportbus stop, you have to call phone no. +45 8759 1610 and arrange this at least 24 hours before departure.

Latest check-in time:
Domestic and Scandinavia 30 min. before departure.
International 60 min. before departure.

Possible call points at the arrival situation:
- at the seat on board the aircraft, when the rest of the passengers have left the aircraft.
- at the bottom of the aircrafts front stairway
